The Department of Meteorology stated that today (07) there may be occasional rains in Sabaragamuwa Province, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara Districts and there is a possibility of some rains in the Western and North Western Provinces as well.
The department also announced that some places in Sabaragamuwa province and the districts of Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Kalutara, Galle and Matara will experience heavy rains exceeding 50 mm.
Meanwhile, the same department has also stated that rain or thundershowers may occur at several places in Uva and Eastern Provinces during the evening or at night.
There is also a possibility of strong winds of 50 kmph in the western slopes of the central hills.
In particular, the Department of Meteorology emphasized to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
