Red Landslide Alerts are being issued…everyone is important to stay alert.

With the heavy rains, the National Building Research Organization has taken steps to issue red landslide risk notices for Ratnapura, Kuruvita and Alapatha in Ratnapura district as well as Palindanuwara divisional secretariat divisions in Kalutara district.

Meanwhile, the same organization has also taken steps to issue landslide warnings for 8 districts due to heavy rainfall in many parts of the island.

Accordingly, second level landslide warnings have already been issued for Yakkalamulla, Nagoda and Baddegama in Galle district, Valallavita and Bulathsinhala in Kalutara district as well as Aheliyagoda, Kahawatta, Kalawana and Ayagama in Ratnapura district.

Many parts of the island have been receiving heavy rains since last August 30.

With the rains, the Kalu Ganga from Ratnapura, the Maguru Ganga from Magura area, the Kuda Ganga from Millakand and the Ging Ganga from Thavalama area are rising to a minor flood level, the Disaster Management Center states.
However, in view of the current weather conditions, it is very important for everyone to pay close attention and being prepared in advance will give you the opportunity to successfully face any situation.
