Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Sumith Wijesinghe stated that the government has not yet given any notice regarding the increase in fuel prices.
He said that due to the increase in crude oil prices in the world market, there is an urgent need to increase fuel prices.
The Minister in charge of the subject Udaya Gammanpila has also informed the Chairman that the new prices of fuel should be increased in this situation, the Chairman said.
The Ceylon IOC recently took steps to increase fuel prices, after which the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) also informed the government that it should increase fuel prices.
