Signs of extended power cuts.

The Public Utilities Commission has given permission to cut power for 03 hours daily from tomorrow (16th) to 19th.
Thus, during the day, for an hour and 40 minutes, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W There will be power cut for groups and it is planned to cut power for 1 hour and 20 minutes during night time as well.
Meanwhile, the areas belonging to the CC category will be cut off for a period of 02 hours and 30 minutes between 06.00 – 08.30 am, and for the areas M, N, O, X, Y, Z, there will be a power cut for a period of 03 hours between 5.30 am – 8.30 am.
The Ceylon Electricity Board states that the first generator in the Lakwijaya Power Plant with a capacity of 300 megawatts has been shut down due to a sudden technical fault and it will take approximately two weeks to restore it.
Also, the national system has lost its total capacity of 300 megawatts due to an essential maintenance work being carried out on the second generator of the Lakwijaya power plant.
Due to this, the Electricity Board points out that the national grid has lost 600 megawatts.
