Due to the lack of water at the Balagolla water pumping station in Kundasale, the Pallekele Aijana Mandalaya and nearly 30,000 people living in the surrounding villages have been facing a severe network shortage for the past one and a half days. The water supply has been cut off without prior notice. The Water Supply and Drainage Board states that the Polgolla Reservoir will not be able to pump water from the Mahaweli River due to the lack of water supply. As a result, factories owned by the Pallekele Board of Investment will have to close, officials said.
