One of the strongest cricketers in the South African team has abruptly resigned from Test cricket.
He said that wicketkeeper Quinton de Kok had decided to retire from Test cricket for the sake of his family.
However, he informed his decision to the South African Cricket Board shortly after the Test defeat against India, which made it special.
His wife Sasha is also expecting their first child.
“My family is everything to me. I want the opportunity to spend more time with them. We are on the verge of a new and unique chapter in our lives,” he said.
He has so far scored 3,300 runs in 54 Test matches at an average of 38.82.
