The Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) says it is only authorized to test whether LPG-free gas cylinders comply with Sri Lanka standards.
Dr. Siddhika G. Senaratne, Director General of the Sri Lanka Standards Institution has stated this in a statement.
The announcement further states that the Sri Lanka Standards Institution has declared all the standards as voluntary standards and does not have the power to make any standards mandatory.
It states that compliance with the issued standards for valves, regulators and flexible hoses is mandatory, and that it is the responsibility of the Consumer Affairs Authority to monitor its compliance.
