STATION MASTERS STRIKE BEGINS

The General Manager of the Railways states that some office trains and all long distance trains have been canceled due to the strike by the Station Masters.
The General Manager of Railways has stated that arrangements have been made to run 80 office trains so far.
Station masters have commenced a token 24-hour token strike with effect from midnight yesterday (12).
Sumedha Somaratne, President of the Station Masters’ Association says that the action taken by the trade unions is based on several demands including the unannounced cancellation of long distance train reservations.
