THE CORPSE THAT LEFT A VILLAGE HELPLESS

A 77-year-old woman from the Minipuragama area in the Okkampitiya police area in Buttala has died while receiving treatment at the Moneragala General Hospital.

Her body was later released from the hospital for burial and the body was prepared and taken home.

Hours after the body was brought home, hospital officials informed family members that the woman had died of a covia infection.

Accordingly, health officials arrived and took the body to be cremated in accordance with quarantine rules.

However, the people in the house were severely inconvenienced by the incident and it is reported that nearly 200 people had come to the house by that time.

The health department has directed the people in the house to quarantine and the residents of the area have also been severely inconvenienced.
