Sri Lanka is currently experiencing social, economic and political breakdown. Former President Maithripala Sirisena has said that President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has agreed to remove Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and form an interim government to restore it.
He further stated at a media briefing held in Colombo today that the discussions held with President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa today (29) were successful.
He also said that the President had agreed to appoint a new Prime Minister and a National Council to assist the new Cabinet.
It is reported that all the 11 party leaders who left the government have participated in this discussion and all of them have reached this agreement.
