The term of office of members of local government bodies will be extended

A special gazette notification has been issued extending the term of office of members of local government bodies.
This gazette notification has been issued by the Minister of Public Service Provincial Councils and Local Government Janaka Bandara Tennakoon.
Accordingly, the term of office of members of Municipal Councils, Municipal Councils and Pradeshiya Sabhas has been extended to March 19, 2023.
According to the relevant gazette notification, the term of office of members of 41 Municipal Councils, 24 Municipal Councils and 275 Pradeshiya Sabhas will be extended.
