The Sandahiru Se Chaithyarajah will be offered to the Maha Sangha today (18) in memory of the war heroes who sacrificed their lives to save our country and nation from the brutal 30 year war.
The Sandahiru Se Chaitya, built on the views of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, will be dedicated to the Maha Sangha today with the participation of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Construction of the temple began in 2010 and is 283 feet above ground level, 45 feet below ground level.
Recently, the President and other members of the Maha Sangha presided over the ceremony.
Retired Secretary General of Defense Kamal Gunaratne stated that the Sandahiru Se Chaityaraja, built with the labor of the officers of the three forces and the Civil Defense Department, will be opened to the public from today.
