TODAY IS THE FULL MOON POYA DAY

Today (17) is the first full moon day of the new year, the full moon day of Duruthu.
This Poya day can be called as a Poya day where many important events of the Buddha Sasana took place.
It is said that the first visit of the Buddha to Ceylon took place on this auspicious day and it was on this auspicious day that the Buddha came to Mahiyangana at the invitation of Lord Saman and settled the conflict between the Yaksha and Naga tribes.
It was also on the day of Duruthu Poya that the three organizations converted thousands of Jatilas to the path of Dhamma.
