The Meteorological Department states that the southwest monsoon is gradually establishing across the island.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northwestern provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. A statement issued by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology said that there could be around 100 showers.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern Province and in the Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts. The epicenter was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor, however; no tsunami alert was issued.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department kindly requests the public to take necessary measures to reduce the risk of temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
