The Department of Meteorology has warned that there may be scattered rain or thundershowers in the evening or night in Central, Uva, Eastern, Northern and North Central provinces today (18).
The department has also stated that light rain may occur in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts today.
Also, the Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
The relevant announcement further stated that the sea areas off the coast from Colombo to Pottuvil through Matara and Hambantota may become rough from time to time, and the rest of the sea areas around the island may become slightly rough.
