WHAT HAPPENED TO THE COMMISION TO INVESTIGATE FRAUD AND CORRUPTION IN GOOD GOVERNANCE?

During the tenure of former President Maithripala Sirisena, who came to power in 2015, their main slogan was to investigate fraud and corruption.

During this period, a special Presidential Commission to Investigate Fraud and Corruption was appointed under the chairmanship of the President and Lasil de Silva was appointed as its Secretary.

Mr. Lasil de Silva participated in a recent social media discussion where he revealed a lot of information about this church to the world.

He was removed from the commission at one point during the previous government, and he mentions two factors that led to his removal.

According to Lasil de Silva, he and his team have started exposing and questioning various frauds and corruptions in the public service as well as in the public service as well as in the Parliamentary Ministers through the Commission to Investigate Fraud and Corruption.

He states that during the transparent investigation, various pressures were received from a Minister of Parliament as well as the then Prime Minister.

He further stated that he was pressured by various parties to stop his investigations and that he may have lost his post due to his negligence.

For example, Rishad Bathiudeen’s rice fraud caused a loss of about 15 billion rupees, and when the warehouses were sealed, Bathiudeen’s officials came and demanded from time to time, he said.

He says that in many cases the public service acts as a pawn in the hands of another party and often the parliament also acts as a pawn in the hands of various parties and nowhere can independence be seen.

According to a 1979 World Bank report, the literacy rate in Sri Lanka at that time was 85%, followed by China at 66% and India at 36%.

At the time, per capita income was US $ 200 in Sri Lanka, US $ 150 in India and US $ 190 in Pakistan.

In terms of foreign debt, Sri Lanka had $ 787 million, Pakistan $ 6772 million, Thailand $ 1051 million and Korea $ 8472 million.

It is noteworthy in this data review that we are now at the top of every country in the world as a developed country, but now we have fallen below all of them and become dependent on their debt.

Who is dragging the country into such a situation? What happens to the wealth of the country? Where are the responsible authorities? Many such problems have arisen in the hearts of ordinary people but no one can be expected to answer them.

Mr. Lasil de Silva made a number of such revelations and the full discussion is below,
