Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been ousted and sentenced by a special court in Myanmar.
Several cases are pending against her these days and this sentence is the first in a series of such cases.
She faces up to four years in prison, and foreign media reports say she could face up to life in prison after the rest of her trial.
She has been convicted of “protesting and violating Covid laws” and has been charged with 11 counts, all of which she has denied.
Aung San Suu Kyi, 76, was ousted in a military coup last February.
In the previous general election, the military overthrew the government and seized power, accusing it of corruption.
