A Tunisian national has been arrested in Katunayake with a consignment of cocaine brought to Sri Lanka by air.
The suspect, who is posing as the head of an international financial institution, had brought the drugs to Sri Lanka and was arrested at the Katunayake airport today (15).
The stock of cocaine seized from the foreigner was 04 kilograms and 527 grams and is the largest consignment of narcotics ever airlifted to the Katunayake airport.
According to the Customs Narcotics Control Unit at the Katunayake Airport, the suspect, a Tunisian national, had arrived in Sri Lanka by air from Brazil and Doha.
The drugs and the suspect have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau and further investigations are to be carried out.
