Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal has warned that the bank accounts used to send and receive money through unofficial methods will be suspended with immediate effect.
He has mentioned this in a message on his Twitter account and has pointed out that only accepted methods should be used to send money to Sri Lanka.
The Central Bank also announced yesterday (01) that it will be possible to charge an additional 10 rupees for every dollar converted into rupees during the month of December.
However, it will be mandatory for overseas employees to transfer money through Sri Lankan banks and formal money transfer systems.
