The Milk Powder Importers Association points out that the current shortage of milk powder could continue for another two months due to delays in ships carrying milk powder and rising warehousing charges.
The media spokesman of the association Ashoka Bandara stated that the issuance of letters of credit through banks has been hampered due to the lack of dollars required to purchase imported milk powder.
He also pointed out that local milk powder manufacturers should take necessary steps to prevent consumers from being inconvenienced due to the problems that exist with these imported milk powders.
