The United States has imposed a travel ban on two members of the Sri Lankan security forces on human rights abuses.
The announcement was made by US Secretary of State Anthony J. Blinken.
US Secretary of State Anthony J. Blinken has issued a statement saying that the travel ban has been imposed on Navy intelligence officer Chandana Hettiarachchi and former Army sergeant Sunil Ratnayake.
The US State Department has announced that it will restrict itself to Chandana Hettiarachchi, a naval officer involved in the killing of 11 youths in Trincomalee in 2008-2009, and former Army sergeant Sunil Ratnayake in connection with the killing of eight civilians in 2000.
The statement added that the United States has taken steps to protect human rights.
