The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (15) issued warrants for the arrest of former Minister Weerakumara Dissanayake, Piyasiri Wijenayake and former Western Provincial Councilor Roger Seneviratne.
This is in connection with an allegation that former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Seyed Al Hussein blocked the UN office in Sri Lanka during his visit to Sri Lanka in 2016.
When the complaint was taken before Colombo Additional Magistrate C. Ragala today (15), the accused, former Minister Weerakumara Dissanayake, Piyasiri Wijenayake and former Western Provincial Councilor Roger Seneviratne, did not appear in court.
The Colombo Chief Magistrate has ordered that they be arrested and produced before court.
The other accused in the case, Minister Wimal Weerawansa, have left for work and Minister Jayantha Samaraweera is ill, their lawyers have informed the court.
It is reported that only Jathika Nidahas Peramuna media spokesman Mohammad Muzammil has appeared in court today.
