A treasure hunt has taken place at the top of a hill in the Weligepola Divisional Secretariat area in Ratnapura, which is said to be the site of a very old dagoba called Magayaya, Veheragodella.
The Sri Ravana Lanka National Organization inspected the site today and the villagers have stated that although the Godakawela police were informed about this, the police did not take the necessary action. It is said that there are two copper and gold Buddha statues and a gem ring around them.
However, those who love the country and love history say that the Godakawela police should take action to arrest these criminals. Others claim that the Godakawela Police also received a portion of the treasure.
However, it was stated that the Sri Rawana Lanka National Organization will take necessary action until the law is enforced. It was further stated that through the Weligepola Divisional Secretary, necessary steps will be taken to develop the protected area and develop it as a place of worship.
