Doctors at the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital in Colombo have warned of another serious illness for children in the face of the rising tide of the Covid virus.
Dr. Deepal Perera, a pediatrician at the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital in Colombo, said that children could even die if they developed a condition called ‘Missy’.
The doctor further stated that this condition is a multi-organ infection and if it is contracted, all the organs of the body can be paralyzed.
He also pointed out that if children over the age of 12 are given immunizations, it is possible to control it to some extent.
If the parents become infected and the child becomes infected, the baby may have a fever, swollen lymph nodes, yellowing of the eyes, difficulty breathing, decreased urination and bleeding with urination within two weeks or two months. This was stated by Dr. Deepal Perera.
It is also said to slow down the heart and cause convulsions.
