Yesterday (16) protesting a meeting organized by Podujana Peramuna in Nawalapitiya town and demanding solutions to the increasing burden of living, a group including Sasanka Sampath Sanjeeva, Nawalapitiya Constituency Organizer of Samagi Jana Balawega had organized a demonstration.
Yesterday (16) 15 people including Sasanka Sampath Sanjeeva were arrested and presented to the Magistrate’s Court saying that holding the demonstration without permission from the police is illegal and there is a possibility of clashes between two political parties.
However, yesterday (16th) Sasanka Sampath Sanjeeva and 15 others were released on bail by Nawalapitiya Magistrate Mr. Nilantha Wimalaratne after they were presented to the Nawalapitiya Magistrate’s Court.
The magistrate ordered them to appear in court again on December 13, releasing each person on personal bail of one lakh rupees.
