A gazette notification was issued last night (10) revising the functions of several ministries.
The relevant gazette notification has been issued by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
According to the gazette notification, the following amendments have been made:
The Buddhist Revival Fund and the Public Service Mutual Fund Association have been brought under the Ministry of Economic Policy and Plan Implementation.
It is reported that the Buddha Sasana Fund, the Central Cultural Fund and the Public Trustee Department have been brought under the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs which is under the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The State Ministry of Prison Management and Prisoner Rehabilitation, of which Lohan Ratwatte was the Minister of State, has been removed and its functions and functions have been placed under the Ministry of Justice with the relevant institutional and legal framework prioritizing specific priorities.
The Department of Prisons, the Department of Community Based Corrections, the Juvenile Correctional Training School, the Office of the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation will henceforth function under the Ministry of Justice.
Implementation of the Local Government Elections Ordinance, Provincial Council Elections Act, which was under the State Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government, has been placed under the Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government.
The National Education Commission which was functioning under the State Ministry of Education Reforms, Open Universities and Distance Education Promotion under the Minister of State Susil Premajayantha has been transferred to the Ministry of Education by the relevant gazette notification.
The Board of Investment is overseen by the State Ministry of Aviation and Export Zone Development, with Deethavitha Chanaka as the State Minister.
Also, Wimal Weerawansa has appointed the National Enterprise Development Authority under the Ministry of Industries, which will increase the number of institutions under him to 16.
