More than 160 cars exit Mariupol through the evacuation corridor
City officials say people trapped in the besieged southeastern city of Mariupol have been able to drive more than 160 civilian cars along a humanitarian evacuation route.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Sunday warned that city dwellers could face the “worst case scenario” in their lives if the fighting factions did not reach an agreement to ensure their immediate protection and access to humanitarian aid.
Russia accuses Ukraine of launching a missile attack on Donetsk, Ukraine denies
Russia’s Defense Ministry says 20 people have been killed and 28 wounded in a cluster-loading Ukrainian missile strike in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk.
Ukraine has refused to launch an attack. “It’s definitely a Russian rocket or other bullet, there’s no point in talking about it,” Ukrainian military spokesman Leonid Matyukhin told a television interview.
Pro-Russian separatists who control part of Ukraine’s Donetsk region have previously said that a child was among the victims of the war and that Kiev was accused of committing a war crime.
At least 636 civilians have been killed in Ukraine so far: the United Nations.
The United Nations Office on Human Rights (OHCHR) has confirmed that at least 636 civilians, including 46 children, have been killed in Ukraine as of March 13.
It said the actual number could be much higher as reports from heavily hostile locations such as Kharkiv and Mariupol have been delayed from being received and confirmed.
OHCHR has about 50 staff members involved in human rights monitoring.
More than 100 hospitals damaged – Ukraine
The Minister of Health has said that more than 100 hospitals in Ukraine have been damaged since the invasion began.
Seven were completely destroyed and 97 other places that could not be repaired were damaged by shelling and bombing, Victor Liashko wrote on Facebook. (Minister of Health
However, Liyashko said that the health care system was working and that nearly 2,000 foreign physicians and nurses had volunteered to work in Ukraine.
