The peaceful protest against the severe economic crisis in Sri Lanka was attacked by the former Prime Minister-led government. Dr. Boniface Perera, a former region Commander and former Commander-in-Chief of the Vanni Region, has described the attack as a “terrorist attack”. Seven questions have been asked about the attack. The seven questions have been referred to Sri Lanka’s Secretary of Defense (retd) General Kamal Gunaratne.
Dr. Boniface Perera took to his Twitter account to address these questions, entitled “Responsibility for the Galle Face Attack and the Answer to Kamal Gunaratne”.
It is as follows.
General, Dr. Boniface Perera Former Commander Wanni Region
Kamal Gunaratne to the Defense Secretary.
Secretary,
You should tell the Rajapaksa regime, not the general public, to refrain from violence.
Please answer these questions.
1. Who attacked the unarmed youth at Galle Face?
2. Is that the public?
3. Have any of the attackers been arrested so far?
4. Why is the Prime Minister fleeing and now in hiding?
5. Where are Johnny and Sanath Nishantha, who instigated the attack, hiding?
6. Who provided arms to Rajapaksa supporters at Temple Trees to attack the two places of Mainagogama and Gotagogama?
7. The police have the ability to obtain court orders whenever there is a difference. But why did the police, army and other intelligence services fail to detect the intentions of Rajapaksa supporters and launch attacks? What did the police and army do to prevent or rehearse this attack?
All of the above issues indicate that the Galle Face attack was pre-planned and carried out with the blessings of former Prime Minister Johnston Fernando, Sanath Nishantha, Defense Secretary, Army Commander, IGP, DIG Desha Bandu Tennakoon, intelligence and senior police officers in the area.
Conclusion:
As we all know, this attack was an anti-democratic, inhuman, unethical and unacceptable terrorist attack sponsored by the government against peaceful youth activists at Galle Face.
