Reuters reports that Putin’s ally, the head of Russia’s National Security Forces, has said that Russia’s attack on Ukraine did not go well.
It would be the strongest recognition ever made by a Kremlin official that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is slower than expected.
Victor Solotov, a close ally and former bodyguard of President Vladimir Putin, said: “Yes, I would like to say that not everything is going as fast as we would like.
He blamed Russia’s poor progress on the extreme right – wing elements lurking within Ukraine’s population, playing on Moscow’s repeated allegations that neo – Nazis had infiltrated Ukraine to justify its invasion.
Reuters reports that the official website of the Russian National Guard has been published, but the BBC has not independently confirmed that the Kremlin website is currently inactive.
