The Ministry of Defense has taken steps to remove the ban on 06 international Tamil organizations that were banned in Sri Lanka.
At the same time, the ban imposed on 316 people has also been lifted, the Ministry of Defense says.
It is reported that this ban has been lifted based on the recommendations received after the studies conducted in the last period regarding the activities of the concerned organizations and individuals.
Earlier, 577 people and 18 organizations had been blacklisted by the Ministry of Defense as prohibited organizations in Sri Lanka according to the United Nations Security Council Convention.
Among those organizations, the Ministry of Defense has worked to lift the ban on the Australian Tamil Congress, Global Tamil Forum, World Tamil Coordinating Committee, Dravida Eelam People’s Congress, Canadian Tamil Congress and British Tamil Forum.
03 other organizations and 55 individuals have also been banned according to the United Nations Security Council Convention along with Meth.
