Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) M.S. M. Mr. C. Ferdinando wrote a letter to the chairman of the committee.
He told the COPE Committee, “The President summoned me on November 24. Give this to this Adani company. Indian Prime Minister Modi is forcing me to give this. Then I said at the time. This is not an issue that belongs to me or the CEB. That it is a BOI issue. I wrote a letter to the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance stating that the President was giving me this order. Do this for yourself. This is not an issue of the CEB. ”
He laughed and made that statement without any hesitation and at that time his irresponsible statement was reacted to by social media users in a very disrespectful manner. Even if the President says so, they should first oppose the transfer of property belonging to their own country to another country.
In his letter to the COPE Committee, he stated that he was “emotional” by the pressure of his explanation at the COPE Committee and that his statement that “the Prime Minister of India said he was compelled” was completely false. But he answered there very lightly. However, he has stated that he will withdraw the statement and that he will unconditionally apologize.
However, a part of the letter that he allegedly sent to the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance is circulating on social media and according to that part, his statement is mentioned in it. It would be a grave mistake for the President to say so in a letter without saying so. But according to the letter, the President has stated so. But now the chairman says he did not say so. If so, the chairman is now to blame. If this circulating letter is a correct one, then what the President should do now is take legal action against him. He can be prosecuted under sections such as forgery.
