Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts during the evening or night today, the Met Department said.
The department said in a statement that heavy showers of more than 50 mm were expected in some parts of the area.
Meanwhile, showers will occur in the Eastern and Uva provinces today as well, the Met Department said.
Elsewhere in the island, the weather will be mainly rainless.
Foggy conditions are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northwestern provinces and in some places in the Galle and Matara districts during the morning.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department warns the public to take necessary measures to reduce the risk of temporary strong winds and thunderstorms.
