Health officials say it would not be surprising if the country’s coveted outbreak increases again by the end of the year and the country is forced to close again or impose travel restrictions by the end of the year.
Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath has expressed these views at a media briefing.
He added that it would not be a surprise if the country were to be closed or re-imposed later this year, as it had learned important lessons from the festive season in December as well as in April last year.
