Due to the heavy rains currently prevailing in the country, a school student has lost his life after falling into an unsafe drain which was full of water.
A 14-year-old school student named Sajith Gunaratne, who was studying in the 09th grade of Maliadeva Model School, has fallen victim to this unfortunate fate.
The trapped child was rescued after a joint operation by the local residents and the army and admitted to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.
It has been reported that the child, who was later admitted to the intensive care unit, died unfortunately.
