The representatives of the International Monetary Fund, who expressed their appreciation for the Sri Lankan government’s proper assessment of the country’s current economic background, also pointed out the importance of working with dedication in financial management and new economic reforms.

Those representatives pointed out that it is more important to focus on new reform programs than focusing on what went wrong in the past, and it is important to look at the support that can be provided by the International Monetary Fund for the challenges seen in various fields and priority in reforms.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Mahinda Siriwardena, who mentioned that these new economic reforms are essential to move forward as a country, said that public financial reforms and those financial reform areas will be prominent and accordingly, it will be possible to solve the problems in the financial management sector.
The heads of government institutions that directly contribute to this work presented their views.

Mr. Sagala Ratnayake further explained the importance of convening such meetings in the future in order to constantly study the progress of the relevant programs and obtain reports, and the need for the commitment of the heads of all government institutions involved in making these activities successful.

Representatives of the International Monetary Fund, Governor of the Central Bank Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe and secretaries of ministries, heads of government institutions and officials attended this discussion.
