If electricity is not provided continuously, legal action will be taken – Janaka Ratnayake

Minister Kanchana Wijesekera signed a letter of authority from the ministry officials

If electricity cannot be provided even for the examinations of the children of the country, the most important thing among the few things that can be read is that those children will hate politics forever. The entire generation of school children not only likes this political system, but even if it creates a new political culture, they also see it as a joke.

However, because of this power play, the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission is now facing a challenge. Minister Kanchana’s declaration that he signed a letter threatening two officials of the Ministry of Power. But according to the law, the two officers who faced the incident should have complained to the police station on the same day. But no such complaint was made. Therefore, the allegation becomes moot. Even if the minister complains about it, according to the law it becomes a mold.

Meanwhile, Janaka Ratnayake, chairman of the Public Utilities Commission yesterday (28) said that if electricity is not provided continuously until February 17, legal action will be taken against the relevant officials in the next few days.

Also, the electricity board, the officials of the petroleum legalized corporation and the bank officials who participated in a discussion held at the human rights commission recently said that the naphtha and furnace needed to produce electricity at a low cost are currently available in the petroleum corporation in the required quantities and the electricity board can buy these materials. If there is a shortage of money, it has been promised to settle the related money within two months after the upcoming fee revision. The Chairman of the Public Utility Commission stated that there was an agreement to provide continuous electricity during the A-level examination, which is a crucial examination that determines the life of the students, but today that decision has been completely changed.

He states that the ones who are responsible for this situation are the political authorities and the role of the Minister of Power and Energy is basically affected. The chairman has mentioned that the innocent children have become helpless due to these actions and the officials responsible for fulfilling their basic rights have failed.

In the meantime, an announcement was made that the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission will also file a case. Now two cases are filed against them. The hearing of the children will be completed when the case is filed. What anyone should have done was to get an injunction against the electricity board through the court. The desired result will be obtained only if the case is immediately filed and measures are taken to obtain a ban. If things go on without that, we can see that this is a game played by Minister Kanchana and Janaka Ratnayake.
