After a special meeting between the Prime Minister and the Election Commission, the State Minister for Local Government Mr. Janaka Wakkambura has stated that the local government polls will not be held on the 25th.

It was discussed how to pay the salaries of the government employees who contested the election till April 25th and thereafter. They said that a recommendation will be sent from the Election Commission, then the officials will be appointed to a place outside the constituency where they are contesting and they will pay their salaries. Also, the Attorney General’s failure to appear on behalf of the Election Commission was also discussed there. He also said that the Prime Minister will do justice to the demands of the Election Commission after discussing with the Ministry of Finance. “
