It is reported that the satyagraha in Embilipitiya town demanding water for their crops will take a week from today.
Last Monday, they started this Satyagraha by asking for water from Samanala Lake to their crops as the Udawalawa Reservoir has dried up.
However, it is said that no solution has been received from the authorities yet.
Due to the ongoing severe drought, farmers have alleged that a large amount of paddy land cultivated under the Udawala Reservoir has been destroyed.
