It is reported that another civil defense officer who was injured by the firing of a civil defense officer’s firearm has been admitted to Halawata General Hospital for treatment.
The Police say that the firearm of a Puttalam Civil Defense Force officer who was engaged in security duty at the Margaret Watta Coconut Research Center belonging to the Lunuwila Coconut Research Institute has gone off in this way.
It has also been revealed that the firearm used was a 12-bore shotgun.
It is stated that further investigations in this regard will be carried out by the Rasnayakapura Police.
