It is reported that an elderly woman was burnt to death due to a house fire in Udugala area of Ayagama police domain.
The police said that the incident was reported yesterday (16) morning.
A 79-year-old woman resident of Ayagama, Udugala has died.
The woman was staying in one place due to illness and during the night there was no light in the room where she was staying, so she kept a wax torch on a plastic chair and kept it lit.
After that, the investigation revealed that the plastic chair caught fire and the mattress she was sleeping on was burnt to death.
Ayagama Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
