It is reported that the husband killed his wife by slitting his throat at a house in Mandawala Hilarian Farm area of Pugoda and the husband also hanged himself.
The police said that there were frequent disputes between the couple and they had also complained to the police.
Sumitra Wickramasinghe, a 46-year-old mother of four, and her husband, Dharmakeerthi Wijetunga, 54, have also died.
The magisterial investigation in this regard was conducted by Poogoda Acting Magistrate Kamal Perum on the morning of the 24th and the police were instructed to take the dead body to Vatupitivala Hospital and conduct the post-mortem examination.
Poogoda Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
