A businessman from Hatton who was in a fuel queue for about five hours in the face of the social, economic and political crisis in Sri Lanka has died this morning (27).
The deceased has been identified as Devanayagam Krishnashami (55), a resident of Dumburugiriya Road, Hatton and a father of two.
He had gone to the Ceypetco petrol station in Hatton at around 7 pm the previous day (26) to collect kerosene and had been waiting in line for more than 5 hours before returning at around 12.30 am today (27).
