The intelligence officers of the Special Task Force Unit of the Rangala Police in Kandy were able to find the root cause of a deer meat racket that had been going on for some time yesterday (06).
The two men, who had arrived from Dehiwala on the 4th, had been caught by the police while staying in a bungalow belonging to the Burnside Estate and had gone on a night deer hunt and were on their way to smuggle deer from Thangappuwa to Colombo. According to the information received by the Rangala Police Special Task Force (STF) in Seville, the Rangala Police conducted raids and seized two persons, including three firearms, 27 rounds of ammunition and two torches, and sixty kilos and four hundred grams of deer meat. Among them was the cab they were traveling in.
