Destroyers in the name of Buddhism have wreaked havoc on temples, shrines, dagobas in Sri Lanka, the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy and the Ruwanweli Maha Seya in Anuradhapura. It is clear that despite all these destructions, political forces will not allow the law to be enforced against them, and that responsible government officials, including the police, will remain silent, and that almost all major media institutions will remain silent. In such an environment, Sri Nissanka Mayadunne alias GP Nissanka had sought to expose many of these frauds, corruption and irregularities and had received death threats.
It was Sri Nissanka Mayadunna who uncovered the evidence of fraud, corruption and irregularities at the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy. While the President of Sri Lanka as well as the former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa remained silent, he tactfully revealed everything with evidence.
Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga has sent a letter of dimand against Sri Nissanka Mayadunna alleging that his reputation was damaged by the revelations. They are demanding Rs. 500 million in compensation.
In response to the summons, He has also demanded Rs. 500 million for the damage done to his religious beliefs. His reply also states that Rs. 500 million should be paid against Pradeep Nilanga’s malicious activities. The special case is that it states that the government should pay Rs. 100,000 billion as compensation to the Buddhists for the harm done to them. However, Mr. Nissanka Mayadunna has already informed the Editor-in-Chief of this media institution in writing that all the documents required for the case have been prepared. However, our legal officer stated that this case will be heard in court for at least 20 years. It was also stated that although nothing could be said about the court’s verdict, it was possible to get a special verdict at the end of the case as these programs were based on published documents and there was sufficient evidence for all the statements.
