It is reported that the provisions of the new Anti-Corruption Act are scheduled to come into effect from today (15).
The related extraordinary gazette notice has been issued by the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reform Mr. Wijedasa Rajapaksa on the 9th.
Accordingly, it is stated that the provisions related to the Act will come into force from today.
It is said that the draft anti-corruption bill was passed in the parliament on July 19 with amendments.
Also, the Ministry of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms has further stated that the provisions of the Act to support and protect victims and witnesses of a crime will also come into force from today.
