It is reported that Mr. Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Kandy District Member of the Podujana Peramuna, stated in Parliament today (6) that the Land Reforms Commission has committed a fraud of more than five billion rupees during the distribution of land under the current government.
He also mentioned that twenty-two acres of Hantan were sold at 2.38 rupees per perch, and at the same time, the same land was given to Home Land Company at ten lakh rupees per perch.
He who commented further,
“I will tell you how the Land Reform Board worked under our government. This Land Reform Board has committed a huge fraud of more than five billion in the distribution of land since 2020. In 2020, 22 acres of land has been given in Hantan. Perches have been given for two rupees and 38 cents. At the same time, he has sold the land to a company called Home Land. Those perches are ten lakh rupees each. Out of these 22 acres only, the Land Reform Board has committed a fraud of 2000 million. The land reform board gave the land to the company called Home Land and gave an apartment to the Chairman of the Land Commission Reform Commission. Yes. This chairman is in that apartment today. In addition, another ten acres in Hanthane has been given by this chairman as an alternative land in the year 2021. A perch of these ten acres has been written for 78 rupees. This land is also a perch of ten lakh rupees to the Home Land Institute. It’s sold.”
