It is reported that the Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera said that the damage to paddy cultivation due to the dry weather exceeds 50,000 acres, and a full report will be issued in the next few weeks.
It is also reported that the number of people affected by the dry weather across the island has exceeded two lakhs.
The Disaster Management Center says that as of today (18), 210,652 people belonging to 60,943 families in 15 districts are facing drinking water problems due to the dry weather.
