It is reported that the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has issued an order in connection with a protest organized today (24) by Eranga Gunasekara, the national organizer of the Socialist Youth Association, and a group of protesters.
The court has given the order based on a request made by the station commander based on the information received by the Welikada Police that the protest is going to be held by blocking the Parliament road from Polduwa roundabout and blocking the main entrance of the Parliament and blocking the main road to prevent access to the Parliament.
Accordingly, the court should ensure that no road is blocked or any violence is done so as to block the public and pedestrians using the road, and that the relevant agitation is conducted in a manner that violates the parliamentary privileges of the public representatives and obstructs the duties of public officials on duty or does not obstruct any person. Notified.
The court has also ordered that if they cannot accept the responsibility, the relevant agitation should be dissolved by the respondents immediately.
The court has also informed that if this order is violated, the Sri Lanka Police should take immediate steps to maintain peace.
