It is reported that the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries Mahinda Amaraweera said that the government has definitely decided to hold one of the two main elections, the presidential election or the general election, by the month of October this year.
The Minister of Agriculture said this when he met Michael Appleton, the New Zealand High Commissioner to Sri Lanka who is leaving Sri Lanka after a long diplomatic career.
“This is an election year. I advised my ministry officials that 2024 is not twelve months away. Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said with the New Zealand High Commissioner that all development projects should be implemented promptly considering that this year will end in October.
