It is reported that Mr. Gamini Ranasinghe, a member of the Electrical and Electronics Industry Development Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Industrial Development, has stated that a traffic policy applicable to Sri Lanka has not been prepared so far and it is hoped that the traffic policy will be prepared and the electric vehicle policy will be prepared within it.
He has stated that the electric vehicle policy will be prepared and submitted to the parliament and made into an act in the future.
Accordingly, it is said that a national policy regarding electric vehicles will be launched together with the Ministry of Industry.
He has stated that the specifications and relevant criteria for assembly, production and import of electric vehicles will be decided after the relevant policy is formulated.
